This 20oz (5" tall) cat mug has white glaze that sparkles like snow due to the salt fire process. This particular mug has lovely crystal formations.
Salt fire glazing is a ceramics technique where pottery is fired with the addition of salt. This process is more costly than normal firing, so salt fired pieces are priced slightly higher to compensate.
My Salt fired pieces were fired in a wood burning kiln. The dots on the bottom of the pots are from the wadding used to keep the glaze created by the salt from fusing the pot to the kiln shelf.
