About us

April Sunshine Parks, the creative force behind Catastrophic Ceramics, is an varied artist specializing in pottery. Hailing from North Louisiana, April holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Louisiana at Monroe, where she concentrated in Graphic Design and pursued additional coursework in Ceramics. With six years of experience in pottery, April's artistic journey is a fusion of her graphic design background and her love for working with clay.

In 2019, April embarked on a new chapter in her life, relocating to Kansas City. This vibrant city provided her with the opportunity to rediscover the joys of ceramics arts. It was during this time that April's feline companions played an integral role in shaping her studio's unique name, Catastrophic Ceramics. Echo and Fives inject their mischievous charm and feline grace into April's creative process. This includes reminding her feline companions that clay slip is indeed, not food.
